ADHESION GUARANTEE
We guarantee adhesion on TAC Vanes fletchings when you use with TAC Vanes Glue and Primer Pen and follow our recommended steps to ultimate adhesion.
HOW TO USE TAC VANES PRIMER PEN AND GLUE
- 1
Depress felt tip on the primer pen in a vertical position to allow any internal pressure to release. Then, with the tip facing down, depress again about 1/8" for second to allow primer moisten the felt tip.
- 2
Prior to priming each vane, check the moisture level by touching the felt tip on a piece of paper. Fluid should make a 5/16” dot on the paper. If the "dot" is larger, roll it onto a paper towel to absorb excess primer and re-check on paper before priming vane. Repeat step 1 if it shows to be too dry.
- 3
Load a vane into your fletching device and apply a SINGLE swipe down the base of the vane with the primer pen. More primer is NOT better.
- 4
Within a few seconds of priming, apply a thin bead of TAC Glue to the base of vane. Avoid smearing the glue once applied.
- 5
Stick vane to the arrow using a little pressure.
- 6
A solid bond is achieved within 5 seconds.
- 7
Arrows can be shot within 15 minutes.
TROUBLESHOOTING
-
ALL TAC Vanes will stick within 5 seconds if these instructions are followed and a complete seal between the vane and fletching surface is acquired.
-
TAC Vanes Glue only cures on the absence of oxygen/air. If the vane is not fully seated to the arrow, the glue will never fully cure. Your fletching jig may require adjustment to acquire a proper seal with TAC Vanes versus other styles of vanes.
-
Fletching surface must be clean and free from oils, residue, or anything that could affect adhesion. We recommend acetone for cleaning shafts, but always follow with water to remove residue from acetone. We highly recommend Windex for cleaning arrow wraps prior to fletching.
-
Use a SINGLE swipe of TAC Vanes Primer Pen on each vane individually. Primer only lasts a few seconds on the vane, so within a few seconds, apply a bead of TAC Vanes Glue. Avoid smearing glue for best results.
-
Always use TAC Vanes Glue. Apply enough that when the vane is pressed against the arrow shaft, there is a little excess pressed out of either side of the vane’s base. The fletching clamp should be held for 5 seconds before removing the clamp. Once the clamp is removed, a Q-Tip works well to remove the excess glue and create a permanent bond.
-
TAC Vanes work best with helical style fletching jigs. The jig must allow adequate pressure to be applied between the vane and arrow shaft. For clamp style jigs, leave 1/16-1/8" gap between vane's base and the edge of the fletching clamp. See image:

Total vane clearance is crucial to a good tune out of any bow. TAC Vanes are designed stiffer than average vanes, which provides the best stability down range. With our stiffer vanes, it’s especially important to be sure you are getting vane clearance from your rest and cables on a compound bow.
